Does Walking really count as a Cardio exercise?
This is very a common question among our customers. And the answer is: It depends on the lifestyle you have.
The factor to consider here is that ALL the movement you do all day long, especially the steps you take, can accumulate, and add up to a number that becomes significant over 24 hours.
Most people outside of endurance athletes, can potentially burn far more calories just walking and moving around during the day than they likely ever will doing formal cardio sessions.
The total walking and miscellaneous activity are really the bigger part of the potential daily calorie burn for most people, if they practice an active lifestyle. If you have a physical job, the number of calories resulting can be exceptionally high.
Formal cardio for this average population, usually doesn't burn many calories unless the intensity is moderate to moderately high and the duration is long.
If you consciously focus on moving more all day long, in little bits here and there, you can often crank up your 24-hour calorie burn to a whole new level that will help you stay a whole lot leaner. And the best part of using this strategy is that it can feel almost effortless… …you never get out of breath or break to sweat!
Of course, practicing moderate or high intensity focused cardio activities have additional benefits to your health and they can fit into the agenda of busy and inactive people.
